The iPhone 7 Review
iPhone 7 is the latest mobile device from Apple and it does manage to bring in front some very interesting options, all while to maintain many of the features that made the 6S a cult hit. Let’s see if the new additions are good or not and if the iPhone 7 is worth a purchase!
Design
What you will note about the iPhone 7 is that you get a very similar design. Sure, there are a few changes like the removal of the headphone jack, but the design is pretty much the same. In fact, if you don’t check the headphone it will be hard to distinguish this from the previous mode.
On the other hand, the removal of that headphone jack did create the need for more accessories. Not only that, but the phone is fully waterproof now, which is something unexpected from Apple. The colors are also pretty much the same, although you do get a new option in the form of Jet Black and complete Black which now replaces the great Space Gray. Some of the other design changes come from the camera region that’s rounded this time and the antenna bands are designed to be curved around the edges. Overall though, you don’t see that much of an improvement from a visual standpoint.
Is the new waterproofing feature any good?
Yes, Apple did a very good job here. YouTube testers have actually submerged the device at around 30 feet and it still managed to work despite the high water pressure. It worked even though any other phone model died at that particular depth. This does show that the water resistance is really good so you don’t have to worry about spilling anything on your device.
Camera and speakers
The speakers are a little louder when compared to the previous models. I liked this quite a bit to be honest. On the other hand, the camera is still 12MP but they did add in a new six-element lens that does have a better low-light performance. The zoom is improved a little bit as well. Moreover, the front camera has 7MP and it works seamlessly, exactly as you would expect. Although, as you can expect, there are no major changes here.
Performance, OS and battery
The performance is good overall. Based on Geekbench, the device is faster with around 30% when compared to the predecessor. The A10 chip is very good and the game performance is excellent. You also receive a stellar multi-threading performance too. In regards to iOS10, I found it to be very good. It has some great additions like the Home app which is a delight to use.
The battery life is slightly improved, but it still doesn’t last more than a day at regular to intense use. If you don’t use the phone that much, you can boost this to around 36 hours. But still, you will have to carry the charger with you.
Conclusion
The iPhone 7 is a very good phone with a lot of value. It still is very expensive, at around $600. On the other hand, it provides a robust operating system and the new waterproofing system is really impressive especially since no other phone can surpass it. Sure, it has its flaws, but it’s a good purchase especially if you have the money for it.
